Advanced Technologies Vehicle Manufacturing Loan Program
In September 2009, the Department of Energy finalized a nearly $5.9 billion loan from the Energy Department’s Advanced Technology Vehicles Manufacturing (ATVM) Loan Program, enabling Ford to upgrade factories across Illinois, Kentucky, New York, Michigan, Missouri, and Ohio. The project is converting nearly 33,000 employees to green manufacturing jobs.
Factory improvements from this project will enable Ford to continue improving fuel efficiency in more than a dozen popular vehicles, including the Escape, Focus, and Taurus cars; as well as the F-150 truck. This group accounts for approximately two million new vehicles sold annually.
Through the project, Ford retools and modernizes its factories. In doing so, the project is converting nearly 33,000 employees to green manufacturing jobs.
Ford’s ongoing transformation, coupled with recent actions by the Obama Administration to revive the U.S. auto industry, demonstrate continued commitment to restore the vitality of American auto manufacturing.
